The title sounds more melodramatic than intended.  I was watching a massive double rainbow over Leppävaara.  After I took these pictures, I noticed that as the rain cleared and the sun’s position started to change, the rainbow started to fade. When I see rainbows I also seem to remember the end of the Noah’s ark story, when God, after the flood, put a rainbow in the sky to promise that He’ll never destroy the world with a flood again.

How to make a rainbow

If that is to believed, it means that before the flood, there weren’t rainbows, and that God changed the refractive index of water just so, that strong light through thick vapour / mist it splits apart into it’s constituent colours.  We get a rainbow.

As the rainbow started to fade, I still had this promise echoing in my head, followed by the thought;

“What happens when the rainbow has faded?  Has the promise faded away too?”

I’ll just leave that question hanging there.
