Once in while, you come across something which just grabs you. A work of art, piece of music or a picture. Maybe it’s the progression of chords in a song, the way melodies interact with each other. The work of art could be an old oil painting from an artist long gone which captures an expression or scene, or it could be a spontaneous picture you stumble across on the internet. For whatever reason, we are captivated and something in our soul is awakened and time stands still.
Yeah, so .. this gem cropped up on Facebook and I thought I’d share what it brought to mind. The image is of a humorous exchange between, I am guessing, a fictional Sheikh and his son who is studying abroad.
So, I am sat here, with my damn phone in my hand, and thinking, “I wish I could send a text message to God. Just to, you know, check in. Let him know how things are.”.
With everything going on these days with the gay marriage thing in the US, and now UK Anglican church trying to figure out how they are going to handle this issue and how this might affect the Anglican church in Africa, it seems like some wheels are trying to shake themselves loose. It’s hard to figure out sometimes what is going on when we enter spiritually dry seasons in our lives. Calling this arid, dusty spiritual time a “Desert Experience” makes it seem somehow noble and worthwhile, almost heroic.
